A Sacrifice / The Burghers of Calais
12 x 12 inches oil, wax. gold, and newspaper on panel (black floater frame) A golden port city image was the base for this painting about sacrifice. When the port city of Calais, France was besieged by England, in exchange for lifting the siege, the city sacrificed six of its citizens. Rodin memorialized this historical event in "The Burghers of Calais." The red above their heads indicates this sacrifice and the gold vertical edge suggests a glimpse into the eternal city and the sacrifice of Jesus. -

"Lazarus, Come Forth"
12 x 12 inches oil and wax and gold in floater frame These are the words of Jesus when he raised his friend Lazarus from the dead. John tells of the death of Lazarus. This was the seventh miracle that Jesus performed. "When Jesus had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out." The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth," John 11:43-44 -
This 12 x 12 inch encaustic painting includes several themes that I have been exploring, which begin with the image of a rib cage taken from a thick textbook of x-ray images. I called the series "Temple Series/ Learning to Breathe." Each piece is also named. This piece is about "Shelter," and was also named, "The House of My Soul," relating to another series of paintings.

Annunciation

The angel Gabriel was sent from heaven to tell Mary that she had found favor with God and that she would conceive and bear a son. His name was to be Jesus. "He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David...and of his kingdom there will be no end. " (Luke 1:30-33) -
The Sun of Righteousness Will Rise
12 x 12 inches oil and wax on panel The title is taken from Malachi 4: 2 "But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall." The sun in all its glory cannot be compared to the Son of God whose incarnation brought truth and righteousness and healing. -
Through A Glass Darkly
oil and wax on panel 18 x 18 inches 775.00 We see only dimly the glory that awaits for those who know sacrificial redemption wrought by the Incarnation. -
Trinity
12 x 12 inches oil and wax and gold in floater frame The figures in this painting describe the Triune God -- God the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. God the Son is shown as the seed-like figure in the earth below. He came to die like a seed to bring the new creation, new life! -
10 x 10 inches oil and gold leaf on book board During the Last Supper, Jesus' last discourse before his death, he tells his disciples that he is the way, and the truth, and the life. " No one comes to the Father except through me," Jesus says as he points to a door and a small gold square. The vultures are gathering on this night of his betrayal.

God the Father gifted His Son to the earth to be The Life Giver (Hebrew text and eggs). The God who created the stars became flesh and blood and walked among us so we could fly- see references to wings!

Two Tunics oil and wax and papers 16 x 20 inches in a black floater frame $750 The text and mirror image of the golden tunic is from Luke 3: 10. It reads, "And the crowds asked Jesus, "What then shall we do?" And he answered them, "Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food do likewise."
