Commissions have included landscapes and portraits, but my more recent commissions include Taste and See, BELIEVE, The Wedding Feast/ Water Into Wine, The Fisherman, and others that were inspired by Scriptures. I work with clients to made visible the invisible truths of Scripture that they envision. The results have been truly unique paintings abstracted and imaginative. Contact me if you are interested in creating a painting of the truths of God’s Word for your home. Together we will bring glory to the Creator.
Below see some of the process of recent commissions.
PSALM 92 – “It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High.”
My clients had earlier purchased two small abstracts, so when they decided to build a home overlooking Lake Keowee, S.C., they envisioned an abstraction of their favorite Psalm 92.
“It is good to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to your Name, O Most High; to declare you lovingkindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night on an instrument of ten strings…with harmonious sound. For you LORD have ade me glad through your work; I will triumph in the works of your hands. . .But my horn you have exulted like a wild ox and I have been anointed with fresh oil. . .the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree. He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon, those who are planted in the house of the LORD . . . they shall still bear fruit in old age.”
It would grace the dining/living room with views in both directions. The baby grand piano played by her husband undoubtedly influenced their choice of Psalm 92 which includes music, and the call for “harmonious sound.”

The Name of the LORD / My Shepherd
This 2025 commission by my Alabama collector was a joy to create. It began with my patron giving me two ideas from Scripture that he and his wife wanted to be the focus of their room. The verse from Proverbs 18:10, “The Name of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are safe.” and the “Lamb of God” and “Shepherd” references from Psalm 23 and John 10.
I integrated the spotless white lamb amidst the celebratory abstracted name of the LORD, ( Hebrew text, YHWH) which suggests breath itself. And in the center of the painting, the Name of the LORD made visible in the face of Jesus Christ, The Shepherd and The Lamb of God.
John 10:30 “I and My Father are one.”
John 17:11 “and I come to You, Holy Father, keep through Your name, those who You have given Me, that they may be one as We are,”

PSALM 104 Landscape
With Mount Rainier visible from their home, this couple’s request was a commission that would not only capture their love for the outdoors, but most importantly capture the words of Psalm 104. The words of this psalm praise the majesty and glory of the Creator who speaks through his creation and “makes winds his messengers and clouds his chariots.”

Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord, my God, you are very great! O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in his works. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being. May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. Bless the Lord, O my soul! Praise the Lord!

TASTE and SEE
Taste and See Commission was inspired by a husband’s favorite song “Come and See” by Bob Bennett, and his wife’s desire to showcase artwork with the Hebrew text, Taste and See, for their dining room visible from other rooms. It would become a focal point of conversation and “the unseen guest” at the table.
The Wedding Feast / Water Into Wine
What a priviledge to paint this commission! The first miracle of Jesus full of meaning and symbolism. The client wanted the painting to show this connection between the earthly miracle of Jesus turning water into wine with the celebration of his own Wedding Feast in heaven with his chosen bride. It was constucted to fit in a niche in his wine cellar. (Find the Lamb on his throne, the sacrificial Lamb in the base of the chalice poured out into six jars, the bride before her bridegroom, the celebrating guests, and other details below.)
The Fisherman
This commission was another joy to paint. Completely different in palette and place. It was for a sunny Florida home for a couple who had visited the Sea of Galilee. They wanted the sovereign God, The Fisherman, who gathers his fish and sends out fishermen, to oversee their living room. When I was about to begin, God gifted me with a suitcase of gold and silver leaf. It underlies the painting. (See the process of the painting below.)

BELIEVE
The everlasting story of salvation was a major commission in 2019. It was a triptych to be placed above the entry to an Asheville home. The clients wanted it show miracles that point to the central and crucial miracle of Jesus death, resurrection and return. The gift of gold was used as the base for the three panels with Christ at the center. (Below are several images of the process which took me about 5 months to complete.)
