The Weight Of A Leaf

SOLD

My Vessel Series is referenced in this painting titled from the poem, “The Weight of a Leaf” by Myra Scovel.

We have bent to love,
as a twig bends
to the weight of a leaf.

Together
we have felt the brush of wind,
learned where ripples
breathe under boulders,
listened for sounds
of a forest growing.

From the heat of fire,
the cold of stone,
fire and stone, stone and fire;
birth and death, death and rebirth,
has grown this forest–
has grown this love

And from the bending
to the weight of a leaf.

It is a description of sacrificial love–God’s love, a love that rescues broken vessels. Perhaps the heavenly figures suggest  “a great cloud of witnesses, or more poignantly the God who bent to love to redeem.

The vessel is a symbol of who we are as humans, holding God’s love and mercy.

I have made this painting available as a giclee in various sizes on canvas and paper. Check out the options and try it on your wall on my SHOP LINK
