Why Do the Nations Rage / Psalm 2

The title is taken from Psalm 2.  The antithetical battle for truth is well described in this Psalm. God has set his King on his Holy Mountain. The WORD, like fire, rules man’s mountain of relative words, where “the world is a text” to be manipulated for power.

God says, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill!” But “the nations rage, and the people’s plot in vain to escape the Word of God’s anointed king and his authority, –“The kings of the earth take counsel together against the LORD and his Anointed.”

At the top of the Tower of Babel, “the mountain of man,” is gold square symbolizing God.’s holy dwelling place. Hidden beneath the gold leaf  is a Pilgrim’s Progress book cover. God’s holy mountain, Zion, is the destination of pilgrims who have been given to him as a heritage,

“Ask of Me, and I will give You, Jesus, the nations for your inheritance, the ends of the earth for your possession.”
“Blessed is the one in whose heart are the highways to Zion! And blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
