This painting is inspired by St. John’s vision in Revelation Chapter 1, where he is introduced to Jesus about whom the book is written. This final book of the canon of Scripture is also called The Revelation of Jesus Christ. In this introductory vision, Jesus is standing in the midst of his radiant church symbolized by the seven (the number of completion and perfection) golden lamp stands.

Read the description of the “son of man” below. No one can see God and live. John fell at his feet as though dead…Rev. 1:17 but Jesus laid his right hand on John saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one.” He is the Mediator between holy God and sinful man. Capturing the God/man in this glorious vision was impossible so I abstracted it and focused on his name Yeshua, described in Hebrew characters. He is The WORD Incarnate.

“Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands, one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze refined in a furnace and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength,” Revelation 1:12-16
