Thristing-Nets-of-God

Thirsting

encaustic on panel
24″ x 48″

This hot wax painting was painted many years ago. It is the beginning of my series on the sovereignty of God comparing his loving care with the powerful metaphor of banding birds. BANDING was written by my friend Suzanne Rhodes, now Poet Laureate of Arkansas.

The title, Thirsting, is taken from a line taken from the poem  –“the day he flew into the net and hung there thirsting.”

The God who created the world by water, thirsts. “The Living Water” utters a cry for water,
“After this, Jesus knowing that all things had already been accomplished to fulfill the Scripture,(Psalm 69:21) said, ‘I am thirsty.’

The descending pillar of fire references the third person of the Trinity, God the Spirit.
