The Return of the King and The Man Comes Around / The Whirlwind Is In The Thorn-Tree by Johnny Cash, and of course the eternal Word of God, inspired this painting. The King of Kings returns. He descends from the dark sky to “the sound of trumpets, pipers, and the sound of one hundred million angels singing,” to judge the just and the unjust. The gold-leafed panel allows one a glimpse of eternity beneath the apocalyptic happenings on earth.
