This large painting is a metaphor of rescue and pilgrimage. The Red Sea stood between death and life. The Egyptian army would destroy the people of God trapped at the Red Sea. By divine intervention (The blood of Christ /The Red Sea) the people of God are saved and celebrate rescue on the other side of the parted sea.
It is stunning picture of God’s grace. through Moses in the Old Covenant pointing to the coming New Covenant and Jesus, the Messiah.
