The Mask of The Great Deceiver / The Fall of Satan

The title is take from Kerry Livgren’s song, Mask of the Great Deceiver, written after he was converted to Christianity. His band was formerly called Kansas (Dust in the Wind). Livgren references Jesus’s words to the seventy-two disciples who returned to tell Jesus that even the demons were subject to them in Jesus’ name. Jesus tells them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven,” (Luke 10:17-18). establishing His mission and power over Satan who would soon be conquered at the cross.

The final book, Revelation, also tells us about the fall of Satan. Revelation 12: 9 “The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world — he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”
